Fringe Furniture presents a fresh angle and new direction on conventional design. An icon event of the Festival, Fringe Furniture is the vehicle for the presentation of one-off furniture designs. Over 100 designers and artists from all over Australia present their furniture in the exhibition. Fringe Furniture is a forum for ideas and concepts, fostering the development and expansion of Australian furniture designers. The exhibition is a meeting point for architects, interior designers, manufacturers, galleries and high end retail businesses.

Returning to the prestigious Melbourne Museum, Fringe Furniture abounds with more space and more kudos. The Melbourne Museum has agreed to award the best furniture design with a Director’s Award, which entails the museum purchasing the winning item to add to the Museum’s collection.

The exhibition will be held in the high traffic area of the Touring Hall Foyer and Courtyard and Infozone Foyer and Courtyard. Artists will be present each day from 1pm to discuss their work and share in their ideas for creating a new angle on furniture design.
