Esther Anatolitis
CEO

With a multidisciplinary approach, Esther has worked on artistic and site-specific projects across a range of media and locations. Esther’s past professional roles span craft and design, literary arts, multicultural arts, education, publishing and broadcasting, and she has consulted with numerous small-to-medium arts organisations on their strategic planning and programming. Esther has held CEO-level positions with several key Victorian arts organisations, and has served on many boards. She co-curates the independent public program Architecture+Philosophy, and chaired the Arts Industry Council (Victoria) board from 2008 to 2010. Across all such involvements is an abiding interest in those special spatial and cultural configurations that are responsible for the emergence of the new.

Bronwyn Bailey-Charteris Artist Development Manager

Bronwyn has the wonderful role of working hands on with Melbourne Fringe artists to develop their practice, improve their Festival shows and create once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for professional and creative development. Through the Artist Development programs such as Salon Sessions, JUMP, Outside Eye and the Festival Awards Bronwyn enjoys supporting independent artists year round. Bronwyn has completed her Masters with a thesis on ‘Experimental Curatorial Practice at the 2009 Venice Biennale’ and worked as an emerging curator and artist with a focus on post-colonial performance. She is also the co-founder and current Editor of the fine arts magazine Das Superpaper, online critical writing platform Das500.com and a freelance arts writer.

Lucy Day
Administration Manager

Lucy manages the Melbourne Fringe office and supports operations, with a focus on the Independent Program, artist liaison, recruitment, board support, grant applications and resource management. Lucy began as an intern at Melbourne Fringe in 2007 then as the Festival Assistant before taking on the role of Administrator in 2008.

    
   
 

Neal Harvey – Creative Producer

Neal Harvey has over ten years experience working with independent artists and the festival and entertainment sector. He has produced award-winning shows for the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Brisbane Festival and the Sydney Fringe. Along the way he has worked with circus artists, dancers, musicians and performers in a variety of performance concepts. Neal is a committed life-long learner and has spent time furthering his study and worked in the Higher Education sector for a while as well. Before that he was a stage and production manager and regularly stayed up too late washing dirty costumes. Neal’s career in the arts has seen him dedicate himself to providing new opportunities and avenues for artists to get their work in front of audience

Jayne Lovelock – Development Manager

Melbourne Fringe welcomes Jayne Lovelock as our new Development Manager from January, 2012.

Jayne manages the Melbourne Fringe partnership and marketing program. Her involvement in the arts spans a wide range of mediums including music, theatre and visual arts as both a practitioner and administrator. With expertise in communications and development, she has worked at Orchestra Victoria, Multicultural Arts Victoria, National Gallery of Victoria and Arts d’Australie, Paris. Jayne has a passion for independent projects and a commitment to promoting the diversity and talent within our arts community.

Beau McCafferty – Independent Arts Manager

Beau manages the Melbourne Fringe Independent Arts Program, facilitating the participation of artists in the Melbourne Fringe Festival. He curates the Fringe Hub and designs and programs the Fringe Club as the home of independent artists during their Festival. Beau also oversees our Artist and Sector Development program alongisde Neal. Beau is a former General Manager of the High Vibes Festival, former Administrator at Next Wave and has significant photographic, cinema and music experience as an artist, producer and manager.

 

 

MELBOURNE FRINGE BOARD

 

Rinske Ginsberg – Chair
Rinske is a highly respected member of the Melbourne arts community, with a diverse performing arts background as a performer, director, dramaturge and artistic consultant. She has a long history with Melbourne Fringe that goes back to the early 80s, having performed in both the first Women's season and first New Works program. Rinske joined the Melbourne Fringe Awards judges in 1997 and has remained one since. A Master in Theatre Practice (VCAM 2009), she teaches at various universities and private theatre schools, and currently lectures in Movement at the VCA. Rinske regularly mentors artists across a range of artforms, and is a former Chair of the City of Melbourne Arts House Reference Panel. Rinske is deeply committed to fostering independent artists and to supporting the development of new work.

Dr Kate MacNeill – Deputy Chair
Kate MacNeill has a PhD in art history and is a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne, where she is Head of Arts and Cultural Management programs. Her first degrees are in commerce and law. Before studying art history Kate had worked for over 20 years in the government and non-government sector in a range of areas including oversight of statutory authorities, labour market policy and industrial relations.

Liza Gelt – Treasurer
Liza is Director, Deloitte Growth Solutions Melbourne. She has over ten years experience in advising on business growth and management consulting to fast growth businesses and public sector clients.  Her skillsets include strategic business planning, sector research and industry analysis, program and policy evaluation and facilitating complex process change within organisations. In particular, Liza managed the sector study for Arts Victoria which considered the benefits delivered and challenges experienced by small arts organisations across Victoria.  One objective of this study was to provide a funding model that would deliver maximum impact for this sector of the arts community. For the past two years, Liza has directed on the implementation of ubeani from ‘concept’ through to ‘market’ as provider of online accounting services for Deloitte’s clients.  This has included overseeing an extensive software selection phase, ensuring localisation for Australian business environment and Deloitte standards, stakeholder and vendor management, defining the go-to-market and client support models.

Dr Jacques de Vos Malan – Company Secretary
Jacques de Vos Malan is a composer and arts administrator. He studied with Nicola LeFanu and Arnold Whitall at King’s College, London and completed a doctorate under Stefans Grové at the University of Pretoria. He also studied informally and collaborated with the American experimental composer, Morton Feldman. He settled in Australia in 2000, where he has served as Director of Programming & Marketing for the Adelaide Festival Centre and as the inaugural CEO for Melbourne Recital Centre. His works are published in Cape Town and New York and included in the library of the Gaudeamus Foundation Contemporary Music Centre, Amsterdam; the New York Public Library; and the Australian Music Collection. Jacques is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jennifer Beckman-Wong – Director
Jennifer is a highly qualified and results driven Marketing Director with an outstanding record of achievement in strategic brand development and marketing communications. She has a proven ability to lead imaginative campaigns, delivering cut-through and strategic positioning in highly competitive markets. Jenny has highly developed relationship management capabilities with proven success in leading strategic initiatives to enhance the image, branding, positioning and reputation of the organisation. She also has strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding performance on strategic marketing priorities.

Fran Clark – Director
Fran Clark has worked in the arts sector for almost 30 years, including 20 years as a practicing artist. Since 1996 she has been the director of four separate commercial galleries representing contemporary Australian artists. Fran is currently director of Arc One Gallery in Flinders Lane, Melbourne. She has served on the Fringe Board since 2008.

Madeleine Flynn – Director
Madeleine Flynn is a musician/sound artist/composer working across the forms of installation, dance, theatre and film. Following a degree in music at La Trobe University, Madeleine developed an improvisational and through-composed practice in music/sound for theatre and movement/dance and installation. Her curiosity about how sound works in space and how humans respond to this has led Madeleine and her performance partner, Tim Humphrey, to develop works in sound and long-term collaborations concurrently with an academic research-based practice. Their practice includes composition/performance for dance, theatre, installation and documentary in Australia, France, Malaysia, Indonesia China and Japan.         

Mark Licciardo – Director
Mark is Managing Director of Mertons Corporate Services Pty Ltd (Mertons) which provides company secretarial and corporate governance consulting services to ASX listed and unlisted public and private companies. He is also a non-executive director of AQA Victoria Limited.  Prior to establishing Mertons, Mark was Company Secretary of the Transurban Group (2004-07) and Australian Foundation Investment Company Limited, Djerriwarrh Investments Limited, AMCIL Limited and Mirrabooka Investments Limited (1997-04). Mark has also had an extensive commercial banking career with the Commonwealth Bank and State Bank Victoria. Mark is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Isolde Lueckenhausen – Director
Isolde is a Director at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. She previously worked at the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and as a Senior Associate at a Melbourne law firm, practising in media, entertainment, intellectual property and communications law. Isolde has provided both legal and strategic advice to various artists, writers, arts/media organisations and publishers. She is Chair of Writers Victoria, a member of the Australian Law Council – Media and Communications Committee and director of the International Women's Development Agency Foundation.
