Banjo will premiere for 2 shows only at Melbourne Fringe 2011. With The Ploughboys (Country/Folk) acting as house band, Damien Howard (Ploughboys), Suzie Stapleton (rock), Cate de Carteret (rockabilly), Mildsparrow (electronica), Samantha Deasy (alt-country), Tristan Pierce (folk) and Paul Spurling (author), have collaborated to meld Paterson’s lyrical poetry with original musical compositions.
Well and lesser known works will be explored through song, poetry, narrative and imagery. This modern and original format allows a new appreciation of Paterson's sensitive social commentary, iconic imagery and masterful storytelling.
Banjo is an opportunity to explore a Banjo you may not have known and to get reacquainted with the Banjo you’ve always loved!
Producers S.Deasy and C.deCarteret
