Fourplay by Sergi Belbel

A postmodernist bedroom farce. The story of a married couple that purchases a two-metre by two-metre bed, with the intention that they will each invite a co-worker, unknown to each other, to inaugurate the bed. A backwards and forwards game of seduction, rebuttal and dysfunction.

As an added twist, thirty-eight scenes alternate between advancing the action in time and taking it backwards. Therefore each scene is played twice, although slightly altered in meaning, and reduced or extended, depending on its context. Belbel challenges the audiences expectations and perceptions of what they are voyeurs to and allows the audience to use their intellect to challenge their own perceptions on what is occurring.
