Pianist/composer Gemma Turvey launches her eagerly awaited album, Landscapes for a Mind’s Eye with her chamber ensemble The New Palm Court Orchestra. The NPCO is a natural extension of Gemma’s jazz piano trio work, bringing to life the evocative, cinematic qualities inherent in her music. Palm Court Orchestras were popular in the 1920s and ‘30s for playing light instrumental music in an intimate setting. The NPCO injects this seductive format with a new and fresh vitality. This concert will feature guest soloists joining the ensemble including Craig Beard (vibraphone), Luke Moller (violin) and singers from Ensemble Gombert.
