Rhinoceros are coming to Richmond. The only question is… do they have one horn or two? Are they African or Asian? How many horns does an Asian Rhinoceros have? And what about an African? Which is which? Are they different? Why…It’s logical. It’s all quite logical.
Written in 1959 during the Nazi occupation of France, Ionesco witnessed a shift in his community, a hardening of peoples souls, the adoption of extremism by his friends and colleagues. Rhinoceros was born. An astonishing play and a corner stone of the Absurdist movement.
Employing actors, musicians, acrobats, elaborate sets multimedia, special effects and unique costuming, this production is set to be a spectacular foray into absurdity, a massive undertaking by our 5pounders and a production not to be missed.
Directed by Jason Cavanagh
