A Real Fiction exploration of the mental health system and its failure to assist an individual. Formed from social observations, the writing represents genuine experience spoken through the characters. This authentic representation of the silenced Australian underclass is a challenging piece which contains references to suicide. First performed at La Mama's Explorations season 2009, Peter Flaherty returns with his brilliant portrayal of Teddy. Also returning, Maureen Hartley portrays the pathos of a family member watching her son fall to pieces. In 2010 a documentary of The Biography of a Battler's made by Dusk Dundler and Roy Smith won its heat at the New Films Festival in Newtown, Sydney.
