Show location info

Sound, theatre and unusual instruments combine to make a talkative recital of contemporary music.

A VCA music graduate and theatremaker, Anna is a classical percussionist with thespian tendencies. Stuart Smith is an American composer who writes musical monologues. WordSmith is Anna's solo recital of two of Smith's works for actor-percussionist: By Language Embellished, I (Aus. premiere) and And Points North.

Using her voice and some unlikely instruments (incl. typewriters, tin cans & teapots), Anna will celebrate how we create identity through language.

In 2012, Anna van Veldhuisen is being mentored by Eugene Ughetti through JUMP, the Australia Council’s national mentoring program for young and emerging artists. In Victoria, JUMP is delivered by Melbourne Fringe.

See JUMP website for further details about the artist.
