The Guide

The Melbourne Fringe Festival Guide (launched August 23) is our key communication tool. The Guide receives massive circulation to Festival patrons and the general public, with over 70,000 copies distributed to bars, cafés, bookstores, theatres, galleries, universities and cinemas - and Melbourne Fringe Festival venues in central and outer Melbourne suburbs, as well as distribution in Adelaide and Brisbane. For the duration of our season, the Melbourne Fringe Festival Guide is kept close and used as a constant reference, with a shelf life of 7 weeks.

In 2010 the Guide took on a beautiful new look – increasing in size to 240mm (w) x 340mm (h), and printed by our partners Gunn & Taylor in full colour on 80gsm Alpha Matt stock, from Dalton.

Melbourne Fringe Facts

In 2010 Melbourne Fringe had an audience of around 500,000.

Predominantly aged 20-39 years with just under half aged 20-29.

86% live in Melbourne.

Our audience have:

  • completed tertiary education.
  • go to theatre and the movies regularly.
  • eat out at least once a week.
  • go to the pub at least 2-3 times a month.
  • are in full or part time work.

Only 24% of ticket sales were sold at concession prices.

53% travel interstate several times a year.

The Melbourne Fringe audience is loyal, passionate, educated, successful and culturally aware and in 2010 a whopping 98% were ecstatic or happy with their Melbourne Fringe Festival experience.

The Fix – our Email newsletter

The Fix is sent to over 8,000 subscribers each month and more frequently during the Festival. It includes special offers for Fringe Dwellers (paid-up members of our membership program).
