Woven Fields

Timothy Bateson And Renee Friend

WOVEN FIELDS Abstract drawings and weavings constructed with translucent, fibrous papers and threads. Woven Fields is the exploration of Bateson's & Friend’s love of muted tones contained within quiet surfaces. Bateson’s surfaces are alluring, decorative and seductive; a low tonal range that is quiet and meditative; a body of work that is veiled and patterned. Friend creates environments from textile fibres, constructs moments of solitude, weavings which invite the viewer into her place of mind. The silhouettes create a harder dimension to the inner peace she explores through the mixed media weavings. This union of Bateson & Friend’s new work, specifically created for festival, explores their attraction to woven surfaces of paint, paper, thread and colour within quiet, contemplative, abstract moments.
