Melbourne Fringe is an umbrella organisation for a large number of independently run arts organisations and activities. The Melbourne Fringe Festival, the principal activity of the Fringe organisation, is accessible to all art forms and levels of experience. There is an open door policy for involvement and inclusion in the annual program.

The key criteria of Fringe is that work is new and contemporary. All work presented is representative of current arts practice, created and presented by independent artists.
