This installation project will consist of James Hullick and the producer from FCAC inviting people from the Footscray community to donate unwanted hard rubbish items to the project. Donators will be video interviewed about their item by Hullick and then Hullick will use the items to make new abstract sculptures in the gallery space during the first week of the exhibition. In the second week of the exhibition the installation will remain untouched. At the end of the second week the installation will be videoed and burnt (outside) and then replaced in its burnt form in the gallery for the last week of installation. After the burning, donators will be interviewed again about the impact of the burning of their stuff. Video interviews and videos of the burning process will be projected on 4 TV screens during the exhibition. A key feature of this project are small robotic tapping machines that Hullick has created. These small machines will make sound with the sculptural forms that Hullick creates, both in the pre and post cremated versions of the work.
