An immersive individual auditory experience, EVE ST JOHN is an intersection of mythologies, a mute healer, a space twelve people will enter one-by-one to hear the sermon of spoken word poetry and be washed hands, face, and feet. In the mess of modern life, ritual returns.
An exercise of consent in creative practice, you will be briefed about the experience in full by a Novitiate. Works of poetry unique to your session that night will play while the performer gently washes your feet, hands, forearms and face.
A zine has been made with all the works across the show which you will be given as a keepsake after the experience.
** IMPORTANT: your confirmation email will contain a document to brief you on the experience. Please read this before you arrive**
EVE ST JOHN is a chance to experience something wholly unique at Melbourne Fringe, an experimental work at Testing Grounds that merges the practices of Christianity with Ho’oponopono, Orphism with Individualism, and ancient Delphi with modern-day Melbourne.
Warning: Contains coarse language, adult themes, themes of consent, as well as themes of a potentially triggering nature regarding sex, sexuality, religion, politics, and trauma. Please note the performance has a degree of intimacy in regards to hands-on contact with the participant.
