Instructions for the use of the Planned Obsolescence Music Box
We are delighted that you decided to include the new LP from Old Tech New Decks in your Melbourne Fringe Festival Experience. You will find that Planned Obsolescence is an album of the highest quality, combining the sounds of old technology to create a symphony of nostalgic sounds. At times playful, at times dark and mysterious, you will hear the ghosts of dial-up-internet and rotary dial telephones, as well as music inspired by old video and computer games.
Multi-award-winning composers Matt Rankin and Vanessa Nimmo have been able to achieve this variety and elegance of emotional expression through careful application of their experience and technique, developing this concept through sold out live shows at the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival and 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
To hear this album, present yourself with any others you wish to take on this journey with you at the Music Box and smallest bar in the world during opening hours and you will be given free reign over the record player for as long as you choose.
