Set in a surreal Veterinary clinic, TRAPS is a romantic comedy with a black heart about the pursuit of true love, self-harm and a 400kg saltwater croc called Polly.
In TRAPS, see energetic, hilarious and equally moving performances by a cast of the best and brightest of the Melbourne Indie scene. Rachel Perks (Ground Control) and Charles Purcell (Merciless Gods) play against gender as Joe and Julia respectively, while Marissa O’Reilly (Inferno) plays feminist anti-hero Stephanie and Tom Dent (Dangerous Liaisons) plays the long suffering Narrator. Tom Hogan (CUT SNAKE) will compose a lush and theatrical score.
Amelia Evans’ script deftly weaves humour and heavy subject matter which results in an absurdist delight. TRAPS marks Evans’ Melbourne Fringe return since CUT SNAKE (co-written with Dan Giovannoni) won the Best Emerging Writer award in 2011.
Note: the role of Joe will be played by Rachel Perks from 15-24 September and by Paul Blenheim from the 26-30 September.
Please note the Auslan interpreted performance on 20th September has been rescheduled to 27th September. We apologise for any inconvenience.
