At Fringe Common Rooms your celebration can be as unique as you are. We champion individuality over conformity, offering a super flexible wedding experience that lets you do you without restrictive set packages.
As well as gorgeous spaces, we have all the equipment and infrastructure ready to go (late-night license and giant mirror ball included) – you just need to bring your DIY vision. And some guests. And your partner (we can’t help you with that, sorry).

Professional Sound & Lighting
We have an excellent PA system and mics for your ceremony, plus a variety of professional sound and lighting equipment to set the mood, including our giant sparkly mirror ball (perfect for a cheeky dance-floor moment).
Entertainment Your Way
We’re set up for whatever entertainment you choose — we’ve hosted weddings with full bands, live piano solos, plug-and-play Spotify playlists, DJs, karaoke hour and even a laser show (BYO lasers). Keep it simple or go all out — your imagination is the limit. (Plus, we've got a rolodex ready of DJs, performers and artists we can recommend).
Bar Service with Late Night License
We offer a full bar service with professional staff, and you can run a bar tab with whatever inclusions you fancy. For extras, guests can purchase their own drinks too. Our late 3am license means you can celebrate with your loved ones til the wee hours (your kick-on's can give King St a run for it's money).
BYO Catering Freedom
Fun House Food Group is our preferred caterer for events at Fringe Common Rooms. They know how to feed a room — fast, flexibly, and with menus that work across dietary needs.
But, Fringe Common Rooms also accepts BYO catering, so what your guests feast on is ultimately up to you! Catering that has worked well for previous weddings includes beautiful grazing tables, large dishes of paella, buffet style dinners, and, for more casual affairs, pizza.
“This venue has got so much going for it. It would be so hard to find somewhere else that offers better value for money. The room already has a stage/professional lighting rig/sound system and private bar in the room. Not having to BYO sound and lighting equipment saves SO MUCH time and money. Plus, a permanently installed disco ball and fringe installation means the room already has a 'vibe' without needing too much beautification.”

The Lounge is a second salon-style space perfect as a breakout area, cocktail space, or quiet retreat from the dance floor. With soft furnishings, mood lighting, and the same heritage charm, it gives your celebration room to breathe.
The attached outdoor balcony provides fresh air and a designated area for guests who smoke.

Wedding Packages & How to Book
Rather than restrictive packages, we work on a minimum spend basis for your bar service, with no venue hire fee. This gives you the flexibility to create the celebration you want without paying for things you don’t need.

Booking Process
Bookings are confirmed upon payment of a $1000 deposit, (credited toward your bar minimum).
Final confirmation of guest numbers and technical requirements must be received 10 business days prior to your event.
Cancellation fees apply. Final payment must be made prior to the event or at the event via credit card.
Bar Minimum Spend
Confirmed at time of booking based on your guest count and day of week. This covers drinks for your guests, with no additional venue hire fees.

We don’t charge a venue hire fee. Instead, you commit to a minimum spend at the bar, which is confirmed when you book. This amount varies based on your guest count, day of week, and time of year. Everything else – the venue, equipment, and late license – is included.

Yes! You have the freedom to work with any caterer you love, or try creative options (we have a dumpling lasagna TikTok recipe we can recommend!) to create your own unique dining experience.
If you want a recommendation though, Fun House Food Group is our preferred caterer for events at Fringe Common Rooms. They know how to feed a room fast, flexibly and with menus that work across dietary needs.
We have a 3am late-night license, so you can celebrate well into the early hours. Most Melbourne venues close at midnight or 1am, making our extended hours a unique advantage for couples who want to party longer.
Absolutely! Many couples hold both their ceremony and reception at Common Rooms, keeping everything in one beautiful heritage location.
Yes, Common Rooms has full stair-free access. There is a wheelchair lift into the building at the main Lygon Street portico entrance.
Once inside the building, lift access is available. This will take you from the ground floor to the first floor, where Fringe Common Rooms is located.
An accessible bathroom is available both on the ground floor and first floor of the building.
Within the Fringe Common Rooms Ballroom, the stage can be made accessible by the installation of a temporary mobi-lift. If stair-free access to the stage is required, please ensure that this is discussed with the Venue team before the day of your event.
Other accessibility features include a lowered section of the bar, and wide doorways. Please note that the doorway leading from the Fringe Common Rooms Ballroom to the adjacent outside balcony features a small step of less than 10cm high.
There’s commercial street parking throughout Carlton and several parking facilities within walking distance. The venue is also highly accessible by public transport, making it easy for guests to use trams, trains, or rideshare services.
