Clean Up the Strait Fundraiser
Sunday 26th July 2026
Australia's biggest offshore clean-up is coming. Stand with the workers who are ready to do it, and let's make sure it creates Victorian union jobs!
Join the Maritime Union of Australia, Friends of the Earth Melbourne and Victorian Trades Hall Council for an afternoon of music, solidarity and action as we raise funds for the campaign to ensure that the retired rigs are completely removed and recycled in Victoria.
Two amazing bands will be performing: local legend Skyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats, and fresh off the back of touring their new album, Steel City Sue and the Smoke Stacks.
Win a framed Sam Wallman poster artwork, union merchandise packs and more.
When working people organise, speak up and refuse to let governments look away, we get to decide our future, not boardrooms.
This is that moment. Public pressure can still change the outcomes, so come and have a great time why we're at it!
Tickets will sell out fast, don't miss out!
WHY THIS CAMPAIGN MATTERS:
Australian and international law calls for us to safely remove disused and aging offshore oil and gas infrastructure: creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore our oceans while building a sovereign decommissioning industry.
But oil and gas companies are applying to dump large quantities of industrial waste in the Gippsland basin.
Victorians have won an important first step. A Victorian parliamentary committee has examined how offshore oil and gas infrastructure should be cleaned up. It has delivered its recommendations. Now comes the critical part: convincing the Victorian Government to act.
The decisions made next will determine whether Victoria becomes a leader in offshore decommissioning, creating skilled jobs and recovering valuable Australian steel, or whether companies continue to cut costs by leaving infrastructure on the seabed.
We're fighting for a clean-up that puts Victorians and our coast first. That means:
- Everything out of Bass Strait.
- Everything processed and recycled in Australia.
- Victorian workers doing the work.
- Companies paying the full cost of cleaning up the assets they profited from.
This campaign is about jobs, manufacturing, accountability and the future of our coast.
Every ticket sold and every raffle ticket purchased helps build the campaign to Clean Up the Strait.
