CLUB FRINGE: OPEN HOUSE

A hazy image and artfully blurred image of a group of people dancing energetically around each other with their hands upwards in the air. There is a shining disco ball, amongst deep blue, pink and purple lights in dark room. The camera is focused on the disco ball, located top middle of the image, while the dancers in the back are slightly blurred. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a club night.

Indulge in a community rich night curated by Raise The Roof, celebrating House dance and culture.

What do you know about House? House is widely known as a music genre, but those of the culture also know it as a dance style and way of life. House music and House Dance began in Chicago and New York respectively. It transpired in the late 70s in underground American clubs of Black, Latino and Queer majority. As a result, dance floors were a melting pot of culture, celebration and a display of a diverse mix of movement styles from Afro and Latin dance to Breaking, Martial Arts and more; all of which shaped House as we know it today. While the steps are important, it’s meaningless without individuality, soul and of course, the music.

Step into the world of House Dance collective Raise The Roof at OPEN HOUSE, a tribute to House and a celebration of culture and two years of community. OPEN HOUSE is open to all and brings the music and dancers to the forefront. Experience a night of freedom, non-stop-dancing, energy-exchange, self-expression and hedonism. Raise The Roof invites you to soak up the vibe, get familiar with House steps and the culture, surrender to the music and ultimately lose yourself on the dancefloor.

With the help of our DJs, the heartbeat of House will guide you throughout the night and leave you feeling sweaty, fulfilled, and with a deeper connection and understanding of the magic that is House.
