We Need a Flower

A toddler sits and holds an inflated clear ball, staring deep into its centre. In the background there are other toddlers, more balls, and performers dressed in white holding the balls up high.

Two performers dressed in white outfits with silver detailing are moving a plain white puppet with an orange necktie. A toddler watches on, captivated by the puppet. The puppet is taller than the toddler.

A gentle performance for babies and their grown-ups.

Step into a soft, sensory world where dance becomes language, light becomes story, and every moment blooms into something new. We Need A Flower is a joyful, movement-based performance created especially for babies aged 0–24 months and the people who love and care for them. Inspired by an Italian nursery rhyme, this delicate, wordless work explores the cycle of life and the connection between all things. Through improvised dance, tactile costumes, shifting light and sound, and playful interactions, the performers gently mirror babies’ physical development, inviting curiosity and imagination.

Created by Taiwan’s pioneering Double & Cross Theater Group, this 35-minute performance is divided into three parts inspired by the growth of life: gravity, bones, and future.

This is not your average children’s show. There’s no script, no words. Just the wonder of movement, sound and sensation, crafted to meet babies where they are, and offer parents a moment of reflection, connection and joy.
