Club Rewind

A similar flash photo taken with a film camera.
In the middle of the shot is a bowl of popcorn and a hand that has just grabbed some the popcorn. The bowl is on a table with a red tablecloth.
On the left of the bowl is a black VHS, and on the right of the bowl is a retro crystal wine glass with red wine and a blue reflective DVD.

A social film night of forgotten gems for open minds, where the subs stay ON (sorry, not sorry)

Each week of the Festival, you too can become a member of Melbourne’s newest club for the celluloid obsessed: Club Rewind.

We come to this place for obscure gems, polarising classics, and open-minded engagement and discussion. Club Rewind is a space for the cinephile, the cinephobe, and the cine-curious alike.

Join us for a screening of the underseen, underappreciated, or unfairly maligned — featuring special guest artists from this year’s Fringe Festival. Then stick around the film for a wine, a chat, and to swap Letterboxd handles.
No need for your undivided attention — just your unreserved enjoyment. We’ll interrogate cultural contexts and personal connections... but also scream “ahhhhh!” when something hectic happens onscreen.

So kick off your shoes and grab a wine — we’ll meet you in Common Rooms at 9pm sharp.
We don’t have any trailers to show you, so don’t be late.

(Maybe keep your shoes on though, actually.)

Thursday 2 October - The Warriors (1979 dir. Walter Hill)
Featuring Jonathan Homsey
With fight choreography that Roger Ebert described as “a ballet of stylized male violence”, a killer soundtrack, and more sweaty young men than the bathrooms at Sircuit - The Warriors is an absolute trip.

Thursday 9 October - BeDevil (1993 dir. Tracey Moffat)
Featuring Elyse Goldfinch
Round the Twist meets Suspiria in this hyper surreal anthology of ghost stories that is as imaginative as it is grounded in reality. Expect offbeat Australian humour, dance sequences, and some helpful plating tips for your next yabby haul.

Thursday 16 October - Son of the White Mare (1981 dir. Marcell Jankovics)
Featuring Pummel Squad
In this dreamlike Hungarian folk myth, a horse goddess gives birth to three powerful brothers. Featuring trippy visuals, rock-hard cartoon butts, and a jerk-ass little gnome (do not trust him!!!), this film is like a warm hug from your stoner mate.
