Wasteworlds: Kids workshops

A group of children and adults pose playfully in front of a large sculptural structure made from layers of colourful, draped clothing. Many are dressed in wild, DIY outfits made from fabric scraps, with some wearing masks or headpieces. The mood is energetic and joyful, with bright sun and green grass adding to the festive outdoor setting.

A young child stands confidently on a makeshift runway, hands on hips, wearing a striped red shirt, heart-print pants, and a headpiece made of hats and shoes. Their expression is proud and playful. In the background, another small child watches while adults sit along the runway edges, smiling.

Two children and an adult pose in colourful, makeshift costumes made from fabric scraps and netting on a sunny lawn. One child strikes a dramatic pose, another smiles calmly in floral pants and a bucket hat, while the adult wears a blue veil blowing in the wind. Bright umbrellas and people in costume fill the background.

Dress-ups, DIY fashion, and a kids’ catwalk—no sewing skills needed, just imagination!

The year is 2125. Clothing waste has taken over the world. There’s nothing left to do but cut, rip, pin, stitch, and strut our way out of it. We need YOU to save the planet—one catwalk at a time.

Welcome to Wasteworlds—a giant sculpture made from clothing waste! Help bring it to life in these playful, hands-on workshops. Kids (and their grown-ups) are invited to dig through piles of colourful fabric, create wild new outfits, and strut their stuff on the catwalk.

No sewing skills needed—just imagination, curiosity, and a sense of fun. Artists will be on hand to help with safety pins, styling, and catwalk coaching. Come once or come every day—each session is a little different!

Recommended for ages 4–12. Grown-ups must stay and are encouraged to join in the fun.

Wasteworlds: Kids Workshops are easy, flexible, and built for all kinds of bodies and brains. The space is wheelchair accessible, low-pressure, and welcoming to neurodivergent kids and carers. Children can move at their own pace, opt in and out, and engage however feels right—whether that’s making a costume, playing quietly, or just watching. There’s no right way to take part, and artists are available to offer support where needed

Kindly note that Kids and Grown-ups will require tickets to be purchased.
