Wasteworlds: Non-stop Runway Show

A group of adults and a child pose in a colourful, makeshift fashion scene, wearing outfits created from scraps of fabric, old clothes, and costume pieces. Some strike confident poses, while others smile or interact casually. The backdrop is layered with hanging textiles, and the floor is strewn with clothing waste. The mood is vibrant, playful, and theatrical.

Three adults pose dramatically in the middle of a city street, wearing colourful, DIY-style outfits made from upcycled fabric. One wears lavender and kneels beside a bin, another stands in blue layers with a hood, and the third strikes a bold pose in bright cobalt blue. The background shows pedestrians, tram tracks, and city buildings under a clear sky.

A young child stands confidently on a makeshift runway, hands on hips, wearing a striped red shirt, heart-print pants, and a headpiece made of hats and shoes. Their expression is proud and playful. In the background, another small child watches while adults sit along the runway edges, smiling.

In 2125, the world is drowning in clothes. One rule remains: keep the runway alive.

The year is 2125. The oceans have risen, the billionaires have fled—and Earth is buried in clothing waste.

There’s only one thing left to do: make a look and hit the runway.

Welcome to Wasteworlds—a towering textile wasteland-turned-fashion arena. For one day only, we attempt the unthinkable: a six-hour non-stop catwalk where the only rule is that someone must always be serving a look.

Dig through the debris. Pin together a post-apocalyptic power suit. Wrap your friend in mesh and call it a statement. Style one of the artists. Or just sip a drink and enjoy the spectacle. No experience necessary. If you can wield a safety pin, you’re halfway to haute couture.

The Non-Stop Runway is made for all ages, bodies, and access needs. You don’t need to sew, perform, or even walk the runway to be part of it. The space is wheelchair accessible, open to mobility aids, non-verbal communication, and different energy levels. A live poet provides interactive audio description throughout the event, and artists are on hand to assist with making and support. Come and go as you need—there’s no wrong way to show up.

Sewing machines are available. Artists are lurking nearby with scissors and questionable taste. A live poet will provide commentary on the chaos, and you're welcome to take the mic too.

While the Non-stop Runway raves on for 6hrs, the day is broken into smaller, button-sized sessions. Select one of the 2hr windows, and within that session feel free to come and go as you need – there’s no wrong way to show up.
